Traci Wheeler

Traci Wheeler visited her doctor due to pain from her pregnancy. They discovered she was in labor at 24 weeks. She needed treatment that only UMC could provide. For the next eight weeks, the medical staff at UMC prevented her from giving birth. Nurses threw her a baby shower and she made lasting friends here while bringing her pregnancy to a healthy end.

Larry's doctor told him that he needed to visit the UMC Heart Center after a routine check up indicated he might have some heart health problems. Larry was able to return to his family and work after a quick recovery from a treatment provided by the UMC Heart Center.

Grace was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at 19 months old. Through Grace’s up and downs, she continues to brighten everyone’s day with her smile and trademark tutu’s.

Donnie Allison

Lubbock singer and songwriter Donnie Allison entertained thousands prior to his death in 2011 at the age of 49. In January 2007, Donnie was diagnosed with a cancer in his mouth that threatened his career. He fought hard, and made a return to the stage two years later. During his battle, Donnie and his wife created the Celebrate Today Fund at UMC, which helps cancer patients at UMC.

Karen Savage

Karen’s mother was diagnosed with kidney failure, and for the next 15 months of her life she received care at UMC. Karen was touched by the compassion and care that the UMC staff showed her mother, and decided to donate a painting entitled “Healing Hands” that now hangs in UMC’s East Tower.
