Childbirth 101 (Prepared Childbirth Education)
Couples expecting their first child will find these classes a must. Beginning around the 28th to the 32nd week of pregnancy, childbirth education classes help lessen anxiety and increase familiarity with the hospital, as well as common practices surrounding birth. The class meets weekly for four consecutive weeks.

Natural Childbirth
This is a class for parents that are seriously considering natural childbirth. The class will be filled with tools and techniques for natural childbirth and open to group discussion.

Relaxation and Breathing
This class is designed to give parents more time to focus on breathing and relaxation techniques to further prepare for labor. This is a one-time class.

Breastfeeding 101
Because breast milk provides benefits to both infant and mother that no artificial milk can, we encourage all of our new mothers to try breastfeeding. This is a one-time class and dads are welcome to attend.

Baby Care Basics
Couples will learn about baby care skills that include: diapering, bathing, newborn appearance, circumcision care, car seat information, basic first aid for infants, and warning signs for emergency care. This is a two-session class.

Super Siblings
A very basic class involving the older siblings about the birth of the baby. Elements of this class include: story time, coloring pages, games, practice holding a baby, how to help Mom and Dad, a tour of the hospital room, and visiting the nursery. This is a one-time class.

All classes are free of charge for expecting and new parents. Classes are available for only UMC patients.
