Our Bone Marrow Unit is the region's first stem cell transplant program and only FACT accredited program to perform autologous transplants, and offers renewing hope for patients and families with advanced cancer.

UMC’s Bone Marrow Unit features the newest techniques in apheresis, the collecting of “stem cells” from peripheral blood. We also have approval to participate in clinical trials sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. We have a nursing staff highly trained to care for bone marrow transplant patients and a physician staff with over 20 years of experience in bone marrow transplants.

Our Bone Marrow unit has accreditation from FACT (The Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy) for autologous programs, as well as accreditation from The National Marrow Donor Program as a transplant center for unrelated donors.

We are also a research center for the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research.
