Award Type: Spirit of Service

Loli Reyna – September 2020 – Employee of the Month

“A patient was having surgery due to the loss of her baby in the womb. While the patient was in the Operating Room, Loli went to Labor and Delivery to pick up a keepsake box for this grieving mother. She also found a tiny dress and bonnet and made a keepsake box for the grandmother. We appreciate Loli’s empathy and comfort!”

Jeannie Nguyen – August 2020 – House staff of the Month

“Dr. Nguyen is everything we needed in the Department of Dermatology. She is a constant force for good! Dr. Nguyen singlehandedly organized telemedicine
for our clinic when COVID hit, organized all cases for our annual Texas Dermatology meeting and didn’t complain when it was cancelled. Her professionalism is unmatched, and she is deserving of this award.”

Craig Barker – August 2020 – Attending of the Month

“Dr. Barker is a selfless leader who played a major role in COVID testing in Lubbock. He put in extra hours to support the drive-up clinic, ensured patients got results as soon as possible and led efforts to advance our testing capabilities by fostering relationships and researching. His leadership has been key during this pandemic.”

Clarissa Cantu – August 2020 – Employee of the Month

“A patient was fighting for her life against COVID-19 and requested the services of a priest. When our Pastoral Care Department was having trouble reaching one, Clarissa set up a FaceTime with her own priest and allowed the family and patient time with him. He delivered the Anointing of the Sick blessing, and Clarissa finished it by making the symbol of the cross over the patient since the priest wasn’t present to. We admire your compassion!”

Mary Carroll – July 2020 – Attending of the Month

Dr. Carroll has a heart of gold! She is constantly going above and beyond for her patients. To name a few examples: she is always willing to sit with a patient, change gowns, sheets, etc, and she recently suggested throwing a baby shower for a long-term patient and provided food for it.

She is such a compassionate person

Alyssa Tillman – June 2020 – Employee of the Month

“Alyssa responded to a call at a local residence involving a child who was struck by a car and had died on scene. She sat with the distraught family in their house for almost an hour and did everything she could to help and comfort them. This is a testament of Alyssa’s character and compassion.”

Jacob Schoof – May 2020 – Housing of the Month

“Dr. Schoof is always ready to not only attend to patients’ needs, but also to attend to the needs of all staff in the Pediatric ICU. He recently did a great job boosting morale during a very stressful time for staff. We truly appreciate his work on our unit!”
