Celebrating Physician Assistants

Every Year from October 6-12, we celebrate Physician Assistant (PA) Week, which recognizes our PAs and the value they add to our health system.

Physician Assistants are medical professionals who diagnose illness, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, and often serve as a patient’s primary healthcare provider. PAs receive a master’s degree and undergo a PA program which is approximately 3 academic years. This includes classroom instruction and about 2,000 hours of clinical rotation.

Here at UMC, we have Physician Assistants who work throughout our hospital, practicing in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Wound Care, Oncology, Nephrology, Palliative Care, and Emergency Medicine, to name a few!

UMC PAs play a vital role in our health system and we appreciate all they do!
