On January 20, UMC unveiled the Honor Garden located in the courtyard of the main building. The Garden serves as a tribute to those we lost, those we saved, and to the staff who fought and cared for those with COVID-19.

A reception was held with staff and COVID survivors saying a few words about how meaningful UMC employees have been throughout the pandemic. Then guests walked through the Honor Garden which was a special moment for employees and families who had fought through this while also cherishing the ones that were lost.

“For me,” said Mark Funderburk, UMC President and Chief Executive Officer, “the Honor Garden is a tribute to all who brought us through the pandemic – and to those we lost. At the end of the day, our entire team shared two very turbulent years, under the shadow of COVID. I hope this garden brings encouragement and hope within the hearts and minds of all who visit.”

The Honor Garden is just one way we can say thank you to you for working on the frontlines and sacrificing everything to help the community. If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Honor Garden, we invite you to do so.
