- UMC participates in Lubbock Independent School District’s Partners in Education Program
- A dinner is hosted to thank staff of Brown Elementary, UMC’s partner school
UMC will say thank you to the staff of Brown Elementary School on Thursday evening with the Brown Elementary Staff Appreciation Dinner.
All teachers and Brown Elementary staff, along with their families, are invited to dinner at the UMC McInturff Conference Center. UMC sponsors Brown Elementary through the Lubbock Independent School District’s Partners in Education program, an avenue for businesses, organizations and volunteers to help meet the needs of schools and students. UMC has held numerous clothing, food and school supply drives for the school since UMC joined the program in 2010. This is the eighth year UMC has hosted the appreciation dinner.
“This night is not about UMC; it’s about these teachers,” said Kristi Ward, who leads UMC’s sponsorship efforts of Brown. “It’s a chance for us to say ‘thank you’ for the jobs they do and the impact they have on our community.”
The theme this year is Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”
UMC would like to thank the following businesses, who provided door prizes for this year’s dinner: Scholastic Book Fairs, Mandy’s Market, Funky Door, KK’s Corner Mall, Clay Cafe, Hippie Chick, Main Event, Painting with a Twist, Dillard’s, Barnes & Noble, Chuy’s, Blue Sky, Thacker Jewelry, Carpet Tech, Southwest Aqua Sports, Twisted Root, Trapped, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Whisk’d, HeroZ CraftZ, Little Cricket Home Décor, The Fig & Flower, Toonz Ink Kustom Airbrush, and The Overton.
