For almost a year now, we have kept the conversation of UMC Ambassadorship going. Many of you have been great at being an ambassador —sharing our culture and passion—to patients, the community and to your coworkers.

Your Dollars Make a Difference

Last month we held our annual KLLL Radiothon. Each year, the UMC Foundation partners with this local radio station to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network at UMC’s Children’s Hospital, and this year, we raised over $79,000.

UMC is celebrating yet another successful Gala put on by the UMC Foundation! This year, we raised $349,000 directly benefitting UMC’s new Cardiac Rehabilitation Center.

UMC Replenishment Lounge Meets Employee Needs

We recently held a grand opening for our Replenishment Lounge—a place for our employees to access food and drinks 24/7. This is a direct result of your speaking up on the Employee Satisfaction survey last year. Many of you continue to ask for more food options, especially for night shift staff.

Cancer Connect

Recently, nursing staff and leadership of 4 East brought up concerns during Lean Daily Management and in Department Huddles about the experiences of inpatients on their unit who were told they had cancer.

Providing Hope to our Community

UMC employees have done it again! You gave over $450,000 to the United Way—close to 110% percent of our 2019 goal.

Texas Hospitals in Need of Blood Donations

In November, UMC partnered with South Texas Blood & Tissue Center to host an employee blood drive. In just 3 days, employees collected 215 units of blood, with 76 units collected at the UMC Business and Technology Center and 139 collected at the hospital. That is fantastic!
