UMC has again been verified as a Level 1 Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons.
The status affirms UMC as both a top-notch provider of care for seriously injured patients and a committed leader in medical education, training and research.
"To achieve verification, a trauma center must demonstrate the highest ability to care for severely injured patients, from pre-hospital phase to rehabilitation," said Dr. Mike Ragain, Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President at UMC. "We're proud of the service our employees and medical staff provide the region. UMC employees play a key role in Level 1 verification, working daily to ensure that patients receive excellent care and successful outcomes.
"Really and truly, what makes us a Level 1 Trauma Center is what the staff does every single day caring for those patients," said Wendi McNabb, Director of Trauma and Burn Services.
