Construction is complete at South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital, and we can now refer our patients there!
A community grand opening celebration for South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of UMC and Encompass Health, was held on Wednesday, May 15 from 4-6PM. The new, 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital began serving patients on May 20.
“We are excited that our doors are finally opened at South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital, which was designed with our patients’ needs in mind,” said Chris Wortham, CEO of South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital. “Our hospital will be a place where we help patients walk again, talk again and return to the things they love most after they’ve experienced a life-altering illness or injury. We look forward to being the next step in our patients’ transition back to the community.”
South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital will provide a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy a day, five days a week; 24/7 nursing care; and frequent visits by an attending physician. The floor plan includes 40 private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym, advanced rehabilitation technologies, activities of daily living suite, in-house pharmacy, courtyard, dining room and dayroom areas.
The specialized hospital serves patients recovering from conditions such as stroke and other neurological disorders, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, complex orthopedic conditions and cardiac conditions.
“South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital is a great step for UMC as we work to influence and improve the overall continuum of care for our patients,” said John Lowe, Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UMC. “Together, Encompass Health and UMC will provide coordinated care and superior outcomes for our patients throughout Lubbock and surrounding areas.”
We are grateful for this partnership that will bring the best in care to patients in Lubbock
