Did you know UMC has a Telemetry team dedicated to helping nurses give patients optimal care? You may not because they are tucked away in the basement, but UMC Telemetry plays a major role in patient care that cannot be replaced!
Our Telemetry department is made up of 27 nationally certified individuals whose job is to monitor cardiac rhythms for adult. They maintain coverage 24/7, and remain in constant contact with nurses and charge nurses. If any of them sees a change in a
patient’s heart rhythm, a nurse or charge nurse is alerted so the patient can receive proper, stabilizing care.
“We want to treat every patient as if it was our family member,” said Divan Gonzalez, Telemetry Supervisor. “We strive to give the best care, and what we see gets reported quickly, since it can be time-sensitive.”
Each member of Telemetry is monitoring at least 60 patients at a time; they monitor over 200 patients a day. Without this team behind the scenes, care would be much harder. Our Telemetry staff are a critical part of the care team, and we are extremely
grateful to have them! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to them for any needs you may have.
