- UMC participates in Lubbock Independent School District’s Partners in Education Program
- UMC will host their annual dinner to honor staff of Brown Elementary, UMC’s partner school
UMC will say thank you to the staff of Brown Elementary School on Monday evening with the Brown Elementary Staff Appreciation Dinner.
All teachers and Brown Elementary staff, along with their families, are invited to dinner at the UMC McInturff Conference Center. UMC sponsors Brown Elementary through the Lubbock Independent School District’s Partners in Education program, an avenue for businesses, organizations and volunteers to help meet the needs of schools and students. UMC has held numerous clothing, food and school supply drives for the school since UMC joined the program in 2008. This is the ninth year UMC has hosted the appreciation dinner.
“This night is not about UMC; it’s about these teachers,” said Kristi Ward, who leads UMC’s sponsorship efforts of Brown. “It’s a chance for us to say ‘thank you’ for the jobs they do and the impact they have on our community.”
The theme this year is Disney’s, “If you dream it; you can do it.”
UMC would like to thank the following businesses, who provided door prizes for this year’s dinner: Scholastic Book Fairs, Painting with a Twist, Toonz Ink Kustom Airbrush, Blue Sky, HeroZ CraftZ, Karla’s Krafts, The Funky Door, Thacker Jewelry, Trapped, Dust & Rust Creations, Cinda’s Creations, Whisk’d, Dillard’s, Hippie Chick, Oceans Spa, KK’s Corner Mall, The Plaza Restaurant, Casa Capelli Salon, Cujo’s, Get Gussied Up, Twisted Root, Thirty-One Consultant, The Creative Corner, Chelles Creative Crafts, Little Lamb Designs, Chuy’s, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, CityBank, Tara Day Spa, Nothing Bundt Cakes, The Cheesecake Factory, Stars & Stripes Drive-In, Buffalo Springs Lake, Alamo Drafthouse, Crafthead Creations, Crazy Skates, The Rustic Brush, the Cast Iron Grill, and the Overton.
