For three years running we have celebrated major successes in our Comprehensive Joint Replacement model (CJR) program—successes that ensure patients are really receiving the best care!
This program came out of the fact that joint replacements are a high-volume Medicare procedure with significant variations in complications, readmissions and total spending. It helps ensure better care, through CJR’s coordination of healthcare providers,
as well as better stewardship.
UMC came under target price for the third year in a row! This also means we will, again, be receiving a considerable reconciliation payment from CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services)—we will be receiving double the amount from last year!
Coming under target price, again, is significant
Coming under target price, again, is significant as CMS ups the ante each year. The last two years UMC’s success with our CJR program was determined based on a Target Price Blend of 66% hospital and 33% region (comparison to other regional hospitals); this year, our success was determined based on only 33% hospital and 66% region.
“I couldn’t be more proud,” said Dawn Raikey, Director of Clinical Integration Network/ACO. “Our team continues to do their due diligence, and I’m very grateful for them! There’s a lot of disciplines involved: Orthopaedics,
physical therapists, nurses and social workers.”
Our success is being recognized nationally, as Dawn has been asked to speak at many conferences concerning this all over for the last few years. We also have other hospitals drafting their plans based on ours because of our success.
We appreciate the CJR teams’, hard work and dedication!
