UMC Ambassador Stories

Patient · Community · Each Other

At our yearly Service Is Our Passion meeting, we discussed what it means to be a UMC Ambassador—sharing our culture and passion. Since then, you as employees have really stepped up to be an ambassador to each other, to patients and to our community. We have reserved this space right here each month to tell these stories of your ambassadorship.

Tom Jordan is the oldest living major league baseball player, at 99 years young. He recently came to UMC to undergo a TAVR (Transcatheteraortic Valve Replacement) procedure at the UMC Heart Center, and he thinks the care at UMC is major league! From nurses to surgeons and every other person who cared for Tom and checked on him, he said every single one of you cared for him in the best way.

Because of the ambassadorship you showed Tom, he is now an ambassador for UMC. He is spreading his love for UMC, which grows the UMC brand.

Watch this video for more of Tom’s story and to see him throw the first pitch at a recent TTU baseball game.
