At UMC, we strive to provide our employees with opportunities for growth and advancement in their careers. We are proud of our employees and their hunger for learning!
This month, we held a Higher Education Fair in the McInturff Conference Center. This was a chance for schools from all around the country to speak to our employees about their programs. This was an opportunity for employees to learn about the programs these schools offer. UMC has partnership agreements with some of the schools that attended, which means employees have opportunity for lower tuition rates.
UMC is committed to creating and maintaining a culture that fosters continuing education.
As a Magnet® Recognized Organization, UMC supports lifelong learning in all aspects of nursing.
“Being a teaching hospital means encouraging professional advancement,” said Lindsey Rangel, Director of Nurse Recruitment. “We want to continue to encourage our nurses, and employees, to build upon their skills, to grow as a person and as a professional, and to move up within the organization.
Another part of our encouragement for employees to pursue higher education is our Non-Nurse Educational Assistance, a Nurse Recruitment offering. This offers financial assistance to UMC employees who are seeking a degree in nursing. Any full-time, part-time, or on-call employee with at least 6 months of tenure with UMC may apply for non-nurse education assistance, with a maximum benefit of $3,000 over a three-semester period.
The Higher Education Fair is held twice each year, once in October and once in April. If you have questions about continuing education and/or educational assistance, call Nurse Recruitment at 806.775.8912.
