There are tons of opportunities to get involved by volunteering for worthwhile causes right around the corner. As an organization, we volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Ronald McDonald House and CMN. Giving back to the community takes Service is Our Passion outside the walls of our clinics and departments.
During September, National Hunger Action Month, UMC Physicians supported the “Feed Seniors Now” program by holding a food drive to benefit Lubbock Meals on Wheels.
In October, UMC Physicians sponsored a team for American Heart Association’s Heart Walk raising money and awareness for the country’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers – heart disease and stroke.
In the upcoming months, look for volunteer opportunities like making Christmas stockings and filling them for the pediatric patients at UMC’s Cancer Center. More information will be sent out during November.
We encourage you to join with your family or friends or co-workers to get motivated, get involved, and help others. We welcome ideas to promote charitable causes. Yvette Hinojosa, Director Business Services and Coordinator of UMCP’s volunteer opportunities, encourages you to email her with ideas to get UMCP involved in the community.
