Christmas Cheer for COVID Patients

Jan 19th, 2021 | Latest News

UMC spread Christmas cheer this holiday season by distributing stockings full of goodies and UMC blankets to our patients!

Holiday stockings were filled with goodies such as snacks, hand sanitizer, lotion, crossword puzzles, pens, handwritten cards, and much more! With help from Interim HealthCare, South Plains Rehab Center, and Sheena Helm from MICU reaching out to the community, we gathered goodies for 120 stockings to be delivered to COVID patients.

“It is hard to be in the hospital without family during the holidays,” said Emily Garcia, Neuro ICU & Neurophysiology Department Director, “with these stockings patients have something to open on Christmas day!”

We also delivered UMC blankets to ALL patients! Employees in the Thirty Minute Club (TMC) made it possible to purchase and distribute 600 blankets  to all patients that were in-house on Christmas day!

“Because of COVID visitation limitations,” said Allison Hays, UMC Foundation Development Officer, “TMC was not able to deliver poinsettias to the units this holiday season. It was decided by a nursing group to purchase blankets to help bring a little holiday cheer and comfort during the pandemic.  TMC voted to pay for the project from the money that was allocated for poinsettias.”

Thank you for living out Service is our Passion! You are the reason our patients feel hope during their stay!
