UMC offers a wide range of hospital care. We know the unexpected happens, so we come prepared to help care for your child in the best way so they can heal, and you don't have to worry.
The hospital can be a scary and unfamiliar place for most children, so our Pediatric Hospitalists work to create a safe and comfortable environment. Our team consists of Texas Tech Physicians specialized in pediatrics, nurses, child life specialists, social workers and other specialty providers. We perform family-centered rounds, which means we share information with families and discuss decisions about the child's care based on what is best for the child and their family. We keep the child at the center of care at all times and make sure the family has a primary and active role in the treatment plan. Pediatric Hospitalists are available at all times to answer questions and address any concerns that arise. Your hospital experience is important to us, so we strive towards making it the best possible!
The pediatric department within the UMC Emergency Center specializes in the unique needs of children and families during medical emergencies, unscheduled visits, and consultations that need immediate attention. We are fully staffed 24 hours a day, 7days a week by physicians board-certified and trained in either pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine or emergency medicine.
In the area of pediatric emergency medicine we offer:
Critical care medicine is compassionate, specialty care when you need it most. For children who require critical care, the hospital includes a 15-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. We treat conditions that include illness, a recent accident or a severe flare-up of an existing health issue. At UMC we offer a full range of care: we have doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and child life specialists trained in caring for babies, children and adolescents with a full range of medical difficulties.
