Burn Survivors of West Texas Support Group is comprised of individuals who share a common thread: a burn injury. The support group is focused on providing mentoring, emotional and social support, information, education, and practical help.
The support group is facilitated by a non-clinical person who is a burn survivor. The group leader has been through the up-and-down process of rehabilitation and recovery from their own injury.
What is shared in this group stays in this group. All feelings are okay. Feelings are neither right nor wrong, good nor bad. We respect people’s physical boundaries. We ask permission to hug or touch. We listen while people are sharing. This group is a safe space for all religious and spiritual belief systems. Please be respectful of this.
Those who are further along in the rehabilitation and recovery process can provide hope and direction to those more recently recovering from a burn injury. The expression of mutual caring and concern provides a powerful environment for reclaiming hope.
Patients and families are invited to attend. Meetings are held the 2nd Saturday of every other month--unless noted otherwise. Lunch is provided. For more information, please call the Trauma and Burn Service Department: 806.775.9315
