A doula is a specially trained labor companion. A doula’s duty is to provide a continuous source of comfort, encouragement and support during labor. They can help with relaxation techniques and breathing exercises, offer advice on labor positions and more. A doula is also your birth advocate. Before your due date, your doula will educate you about the process of labor and delivery, with the goal of making it less scary and more comfortable so you’re empowered to take a more active role in your birth.
