In 2016, UMC Children's Hospital was verified by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. This verification recognizes UMC's committment to providing excellent care to pediatric trauma patients form the entire region and complements UMC's Level I Trauma verification.
UMC's partnership with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center allows for Texas Tech's Department of Surgery to provide surgical care for the injured patient (including trauma surgeons, critical care coverage, burn surgeons and neurosurgeons).
UMC Children's Hospital offers many resources from families, such as the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center's Center for Superheroes, a Patient Family Advocacy Council, injury prevention programs and pediatric trauma outreach and education.
An integral part of the recovery process is rehabilitation. UMC provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and social services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
