UMC’s 2020 Retention Bonus

Apr 16th, 2020 | Latest News

To be the employer of choice, we must continually re-recruit you— the most valuable asset of UMC. Why? Because talent always has a choice. And we want your choice to be UMC for the rest of your career. The only way to compete in our market and fulfill our mission of charity, education & financial strength is to accomplish it… through you. So, in 2020 we are moving from a Sharing Success Bonus to an Employee Retention Bonus. Rather than earning a payout based on measures, as long as UMC has a positive bottom line, we will pay a bonus to all eligible employees.

No other hospital we know of offers a retention bonus to ALL employees. The truth is, UMC is blessed to offer an Employee Retention Bonus and grateful for your contribution that makes success possible. At the end of 2020, full-time eligible employees will receive 20 Retention Hours plus 1 hour for every year of service completed, as long as UMC has a positive bottom line.

Good News: Our new Employee Retention Bonus now requires employees to work a minimum of 6 months to access a portion of the payout. No longer must you wait a year or longer to access your bonus!

Full Time Eligibility Requirements

Employees hired prior to January 2, 2020, who worked an average of 72 hours per pay period (including PTO, etc.) from 12.22.19 through 11.12.20, will receive 20 Retention Hours plus 1 hour for every year of service.

Employees hired after January 1, 2020, and prior to June 21, 2020 who worked an average of 72 hours per pay period (including PTO, etc.) from start date through 11.21.20, will receive 10 Retention Hours.

Part Time Eligibility Requirements

Employees hired prior to January 2, 2020, who worked an average of 36 hours per pay period (including PTO, etc.) from 12.22.19 through 11.21.20, will receive 10 Retention Hours plus ½ hour for every year of service.

Employees hired after January 1, 2020, and prior to June 21, 2020 who worked an average of 36 hours per pay period (including PTO, etc.) from start date through 11.21.20 will receive 5 Retention Hours.

Extra Dollars— The Likelihood to Recommend Multiplier

Likelihood to Recommend is the best measure of a patient’s choice of UMC, trust in UMC and loyalty to UMC. As Likelihood to Recommend increases, we are creating new ambassadors of, which sets UMC apart, our SIOP culture. Dollars will be added to our Retention Bonus for YTD results through October 31, 2020:

Likelihood to Recommend of ≥85% = 5% increase to total dollars earned

Likelihood to Recommend of ≥88% = 10% increase to total dollars earned

Likelihood to Recommend of ≥91% = 15% increase of total dollars earned

Employees not eligible for the bonus: agency, contract, temporary staff, employees who gave notice of termination, employees who termed and returned in the same year, employees on probation or suspension in 2020, and employees not working the minimum hours required per pay period.

On behalf of your Admin staff thank you for your service, past present and in years to come!

Sincerely,

Mark Funderburk
