Aryaie, Amir_5

Amir Aryaie, M.D.

Dr. Aryaie is a board certified surgeon, assistant professor of surgery at the Texas Tech Health University Sciences Center, and Medical Director of the UMC Center for Bariatric Surgery. He completed his fellowship training in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery at University Hospitals Case Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Aryaie has done extensive research, published multiple publications and has been featured during national presentations regarding bariatrics. As an experience surgeon, he has conducted hundreds of high-quality, weight loss surgeries including: sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, duodenal switch, and revisional bariatric surgeries. He is accepting new patients.

Vinay Goyal, M.D.

Dr. Vinay Goyal is a fellowship trained Bariatric Surgeon and a board certified General Surgeon. He practiced in Rhode Island for four years before moving to Lubbock in 2018. His areas of expertise include laparoscopic bariatric surgery, endoscopy and minimally-invasive abdominal surgery. Dr. Goyal helps patients achieve success through combining life style changes with bariatric surgery.


Hilary Diaz, R.N.

Hilary Diaz, R.N.

Diaz provides pre-operative and post-operative education to patients from their initial evaluation until follow-ups after surgery. She serves as a liaison between physicians, nursing staff and administrative staff to help streamline the medical process. She also attends to your needs as a patient while in the hospital.


Mandi Moore

Mandie Moore, MSN

Amanda (Mandi) Moore is a West Texas native. She earned both her BSN and MSN at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. She has a background in trauma/burn critical care but decided to join the Bariatric Surgical Program at Texas Tech in 2018. Amanda Moore delivers both preoperative and postoperative education and support to patients and their families. She is passionate about empowering patients to change their lives and take control of their health.

Kati Macha, Outpatient Dietitian

Kati Macha was born and raised here in Lubbock, Texas. She received her Bachelor's degree, Master's degree and her dietetic internship at Texas Tech University. At UMC, she provides weight management nutrition counseling for patients before bariatric surgery, as well as medical nutrition therapy and nutritional counseling after bariatric surgery. Kati is passionate about helping patients set realistic nutrition goals that can allow them to experience positive weight management outcomes.
