Being one of the most respected transplant centers in the country, UT
Southwestern has a rich history in kidney transplantation, starting in
1964 with the first kidney transplant performed in Texas. Through its
innovations in clinical medicine and dedicated efforts in research and
education, UT Southwestern helps shape the field of transplantation.
Later this year, UT Southwestern will open the new William P. Clements
Jr. University Hospital in the heart of the Dallas Medical District.
At the core of this partnership between UMC and UT Southwestern is a
mutual goal to provide the best possible care to kidney transplant
patients and their families. Patients will continue treatment close to
home, have their transplant at a facility with some of the best
long-term outcomes, then return home for follow-up care and recovery.
