in kidney transplantation, bringing the strengths of both facilities
together, creating a patient-centric culture, and providing an
unsurpassed level of innovative and compassionate care.
Through this new partnership, patients from Lubbock and the
surrounding areas will continue to receive pre-transplant treatment,
waitlist management and post-transplant care from their established team
at UMC, in collaboration with UT Southwestern specialists, in Lubbock.
Transplant surgeries will be performed at UT Southwestern’s state-of-the-art facilities in Dallas.

Southwestern, one of the most respected transplant centers in the country, has a rich history in kidney transplantation. This began in
1964 with the first kidney transplant performed in Texas. Through its
innovations in clinical medicine and dedicated efforts in research and
education, UT Southwestern helps shape the field of transplantation.
Later this year, UT Southwestern will open the new William P. Clements
Jr. University Hospital in the heart of the Dallas Medical District.
