She has strong leadership skills, superior teamwork, and exemplifies Service is Our Passion. Morgan is not just a shining example of UMC and its culture but is also a magnificent representative of the nursing profession in general.
Why did you decide on a career as a nurse?
Growing up I faced hardships that made me reflect on what I wanted to pursue for my career and what my life’s purpose would be. I decided I want to help the most vulnerable people and help alleviate the suffering of patients who feel hopeless or don’t have anyone by their side.
What is being a nurse at UMC like?
I started at UMC as a transporter in 2015 and have been here ever since. UMC is a health system that takes care of all of their employees. As a nurse, I feel genuinely appreciated and have a great support system. If we ever feel discouraged, we have a team that lifts each other up.
How does it feel to be named UMC’s 2021 Nurse of the Year?
I feel honored and full of gratefulness to have won this award. The goal for my career has always been to be a great nurse and provide the best care I can, and winning this award was surreal.
