This summer, we officially welcomed our first ever class of UMC Emergency Medicine Residents! Each month, you have gotten to know two emergency medicine residents at a time right here. This month we bring you the last two of our inaugural residents.
Katherine Sensenich
Hometown: Leawood, Kansas
Katherine completed her undergraduate studies at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, before continuing to medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas. She has been looking to move to Texas, as both of her siblings live here, and after doing a rotation in the UMC Emergency Center during medical school, Katherine knew this is where she wanted to be!
Our residency program stood out to her because the faculty demonstrated a clear commitment to establishing a quality program and a passion for teaching and mentoring. She is excited to make a lasting impact on Lubbock and the surrounding areas through her care.
Alex Sirney
Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Alex completed his undergraduate education at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He then attended medical school at A.T. Still University of Health Sciences Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. Before continuing his education, Alex worked in public health and EMS. You could say he was born to be in the world of emergency medicine!
Alex likes UMC because it combines aspects of a high-resource academic hospital with a community-oriented mission. He feels honored to have been picked for UMC’s Emergency Medicine Residency and sees this as a tremendous opportunity to learn and serve.
