EMS Community Outreach

We are a vital community partner, deeply invested in the betterment of the people we serve. At UMC, Service is Our Passion, and we are committed to delivering community-centered, people-focused care to you and your loved ones. Although UMC EMS is here to respond to your emergencies, we also make ourselves available to you in other ways. You can spot us in schools, civic organizations, sporting events and businesses throughout Lubbock County promoting health and safety. You'll also see us in your neighborhoods, following up with patients that have been discharged from the hospital.

Below are the types of free events you can schedule for your school or organization.

CPR Training

UMC EMS offers American Heart Association Hands-Only CPR training to churches, colleges, high schools, civic organizations and businesses throughout Lubbock County. The goal of this course is to increase a bystander’s ability and willingness to help a person having a heart attack by initiating hand only CPR until help arrives. Our team has trained nearly five thousand people in CPR since 2015. To schedule a free class for your organization, please complete the Event Request Form at the bottom of this page.

Bleeding Control Training

Uncontrolled bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death from trauma. The more everyday people who know how to control bleeding in an injured person, the greater chances of surviving that injury. UMC EMS offers the American College of Surgeons’ Stop the Bleed course to churches, colleges, high schools, civic organizations and businesses throughout Lubbock County. Bystanders learn how to properly control bleeding using their hands, dressings, and tourniquets. Our certified instructors have trained over four thousand people since 2015. To schedule a free class for your organization, please complete the Event Request Form at the bottom of this page.

More information about this program can be found at bleedingcontrol.org.
