Trauma Rehabilitation and Support

Trauma recovery doesn’t end when emergency treatment is complete. As a Level I Trauma Center, UMC provides comprehensive rehabilitation, therapy, social services, and ongoing support to help patients and families navigate the challenges of recovery and move forward after life-changing injuries.

As a Level I Trauma Center, UMC is committed to beginning the recovery process upon admission.

UMC provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social services in both in-patient and out-patient settings. And our partnership with South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital allows us to transfer patients to an outstanding inpatient rehabilitation facility, if necessary.

Trauma Support

Annual Trauma Survivors Event

The Annual Trauma Survivors Event reunites trauma survivors with healthcare providers who cared for them, including EMS, surgeons and nurses. Trauma Survivors and their families are celebrated for their bravery and hard-fought battles through life-changing injuries and recovery. This event also gives the healthcare providers the opportunity to see their importance in the community and celebrate success stories. The Annual trauma survivors event is held in conjunction with the South Plains EMS Conference.
