With the help of UMC EMS and YOU, UMC delivered food bags to our sponsor school in the Partner’s in Education program, Brown Elementary.
Together we gathered 120 food bags, each filled with peanut butter, jelly, a box of Capri-Sun drinks, vienna sausage, Christmas treats, breakfast cereal, snack items, fruit cups, and other miscellaneous food items.
Almost 97 percent of the students at Brown Elementary live-in poverty, many of the students being food insecure. With the donation of food bags, kids had food to eat during the weeks of winter break.
“UMC’s motto is ‘Service is Our Passion,’ and we think that extends beyond patient care,” said Kristi Duske, UMC Senior Associate General Counsel and Public Information Act Officer. “We’re a part of this community. It’s important for us to be able to reach out and help those in this community, and this is a way for our employees to give back and be a part of that community.” Duske coordinates the Partner’s in Education program at UMC.
Additionally, UMC Trauma & Burn Services department is coordinating with Brown to provide free smoke detectors to eligible families.
Thank you for going the extra mile to support our community!
