Our adult intensive care unit advanced practice providers work hard to care
for patients who are in the most critical condition. They work in our
multiple adult ICUs including: Department of Surgery, Medical ICU (MICU),
Anesthesia ICU, Neuro ICU, and Cardiothoracic surgery/Cardiovascular ICU.
They stepped up during the pandemic and continue to give our community the
best care possible!
Matthew Cox, PA-C
Matthew started his career in medicine as an EMT in 1997 and then became a
paramedic through Texas Tech in 2000. He has worked as an Emergency Center
tech, lab tech, volunteer fire fighter, and has taught EMS courses at
Texas Tech and South Plains College. Matthew received his Bachelor of Arts
in Biology at Lubbock Christian University in 2007. He then completed his
masters at St. Francis and became Physician Assistant-certified at Red
Rocks Community College in 2015. In May 2020, Matthew came to work at the
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Department of Surgery.
Jenna Kesey, APRN, FNP
Jenna graduated nursing school in 2002 and came to work at UMC in the
Surgical Intensive Care Unit, where she eventually became the relief
charge nurse. She then attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences
Center in 2008 to become a nurse practitioner. Later, Jenna worked in the
Timothy J. Harner Burn Center as a family nurse practitioner, and in 2017
she began getting her Ph.D. In 2019, Jenna moved to UMC IT, but when the
pandemic started, she came back to cover the intensive care unit.
Michael Garcia, APRN, FNP
Michael started as a nurse tech in the UMC Emergency Center, and he later
became a registered nurse. In 2012, he transferred to the Trauma-Surgical
Intensive Care Unit. He then attended school to become a nurse
practitioner while working at the Sim Center at the Texas Tech University
Health Sciences Center. Michael currently is working as a nurse
practitioner in the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
Department of Surgery.
Sarah Felan, APRN, ACNP
Sarah was a fulltime night charge nurse in the UMC Timothy J. Harnar Burn
Center for seven years. She attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences
Center (TTUHSC) to become an acute care nurse practitioner. Sarah worked
one year at the TTUHSC in nephrology. She has been with TTUHSC Department
of Surgery for two years in the burn center.
Charlotte Harris, FNP-BC
Charlotte has worked for UMC for almost 20 years. She started her career as a nurse in the emergency center and then became a family nurse practitioner from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She has worked in internal medicine, and Cardiothoracic Surgery/Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CICU). As of April 2020, she has been with Anesthesia ICU team caring for patients in CICU and Neuro ICU.
Victoria Sellers, AGACNP-BC
Victoria Sellers has been with UMC since August of 2020. She graduated from Walden University and started at UMC as a registered nurse, and shortly after, became certified as an acute care nurse practitioner. Victoria came to UMC with 10 years of intensive care unit experience and her critical care certification.
Tracy Newton, FNP-BC
Tracy has been with UMC for almost 13 years. She started as a nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. In 2014, she graduated from Angelo State University and became a Family nurse practitioner. Since becoming a certified Nurse Practitioner, Tracy has worked in the kidney transplant program and with the cardiology service (TAVR Program). She also assisted the Anesthesia Intensive Care Unit (AICU) team through COVID and is currently a full time Nurse Practitioner for the AICU team caring for patients in CICU and Neuro ICU.
Kendell Moore, FNP-BC
Kendell Moore, has been with UMC for 18 years. He started out as a registered nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. He then became a nurse practitioner in 2011 from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Kendell worked in the Cath Lab until the fall of 2020 when he moved to assist the Anesthesia Intensive Care team (AICU) team through COVID and then became a full time Nurse Practitioner for the AICU caring for patients in the Cardiovascular ICU and Neuro ICU.
Meagan Sheldon, APRN, ACNP
Meagan graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Texas
Tech in 2010. She started working in the UMC Medical Intensive Care Unit.
Later, she received her Master of Science in Nursing Adult-Gerontology
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree in 2015 from Texas Tech. She then
worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston as an acute care nurse
practitioner in the MICU. In 2017, Meagan returned to UMC, working as a
nurse practitioner in the MICU.
