Structural Heart

UMC Health System's Structural Heart Program, lead by Doctors Ansari and Acharji, is the region's only advanced structural heart program.

UMC strives to provide a multidisciplinary approach in our patients’ care, allowing our patients to have access to the most advanced and optimal care for their cardiac needs.  The UMC structural heart program is proud to offer minimally invasive options for transaortic valve replacement and MitraClip.

Transaortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)

TAVR, a minimally invasive procedure, repairs the valve without removing the old, damaged valve. Similar to a stent placed in an artery, the TAVR approach delivers a replacement valve that pushes the old valve out of the way, and the tissue in the replacement valve takes over regulating blood flow.

Treatment for mitral regurgitation

Mitral regurgitation is a condition in which the mitral valve fails to close properly. This causes blood to leak backward inside your heart. Left untreated, it can lead to an enlarged heart or heart failure. Our doctors use the MitraClip, a minimally invasive treatment option, to treat mitral regurgitation.
