Joshua Layher, D.O., Internal Medicine physician, joined UMC Internal Medicine in MOP II located at 808 Joliet Avenue, Suite 220. He is Board Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Layher served as a physician in the United States Army reaching the rank of Major and served at multiple medical centers across the U.S. as well as a deployment to Afghanistan. Outside of the office he serves on the Council of Graduate Medical Education with the American College of Osteopathic Internists. Dr. Layher completed his residency at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, New York, and was also a chief resident. He attended medical school at Touro University of Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine in Henderson, Nevada. In his hometown of Boise, Idaho, he completed his undergraduate degree as well as his master’s degree from Boise State University with Honors.
Dr. Layher will see his patients both in the clinic and in the hospital.
Dr. Layher loves taking care of patients who are actively engaged in their healthcare. He believes listening to patients and establishing trust is a critical responsibility of a physician. Effective listening is a two-way street and in return he expects patients to consider how they can implement changes to improve their health as well as strategies to maintain it. Successful healthcare requires a team and he will work with other team members to create a coordinated plan.
When Dr. Layher is not taking care of patients, he enjoys skiing, golfing, running, and riding motorcycles.
