Letters of Legacy

To the wonderful staff at UMC 5W,

When I arrived here 2 days ago, I was in a very low and saddened state. I was afraid that I was going to die alone and away from my wife and kids. I was in so much pain, physically and mentally. Every time that I received a visit from one of you, whether to administer meds, bring food, or even just to say hello and check on me, I felt better each and every time.

I was released today, and it is so bittersweet to me. Today I felt a miraculous recovery. Unfortunately, there are parts of my soul that can’t be healed but each of you did something better. Each of you came in and replaced a piece, so now restoration is possible. After this experience, I know that I can leave here stronger than before. Now I have decided in my heart to never smoke again and take care of this second chance that you have given me. Your work on me will not be in vain I swear it! In a matter of months, I will have my wife and kids in my arms and I will have my restoration.

I pray that God blesses you all in each of your lives, specifically to your needs and wants. I pray he gives you what you have given me. I thank God for each and every one of you. Please read this aloud to everyone as it means the world to my wife and to me for the staff at UMC to know how grateful we are for all you have done. Faith in humanity restored.

With Love, Compassion and Blessings, Thank You

Jesus Mendoza & Family
