Dr. Amber Coon, MD, FACOG, is an obstetrician and gynecologist recognized for her dedication to excellence in medicine and her unwavering support of women’s health. Born in Roswell, NM, she first came to Lubbock for her undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. She then finished at the top of her class at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, before going on to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado Denver. She has been board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) since 2015.

Her passion for medicine and women’s health was evident early on, when she started volunteering at her local community clinic while in high school. Today, she practices at UMC Physicians Obstetrics & Gynecology, where she provides care for women through every stage of life, from adolescence to motherhood to menopause. Her commitment to her patients and her leadership within the medical community were recently honored when she was named UMC’s Physician of the Month in July 2025. She has also received numerous UMC Physicians Patient Choice Awards for compassionate and empathetic care.

Equally important as her professional accomplishments is her role as wife and mother. She and her husband of 18 years are raising two daughters, ages 13 and 10. When she is not caring for patients or delivering babies, Dr. Coon can often be found on the sidelines of soccer and volleyball games, attending school plays, or cheering at the many events that fill her daughters’ lives.

Dr. Coon’s passions include exceptional patient care, advocacy for women’s health and rights, and creating a supportive, empowering environment for every woman she serves. Patients often describe her as calm, approachable, and deeply attentive, qualities that shine both in her medical practice and in her everyday life.
