Cancer Research

The UMC Cancer Center is affiliated with the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) and Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. We are also a member institution with the South Plains Oncology Consortium. We partner with a number of pharmaceutical companies to allow our patients access to clinical trials and a range of treatments.

Clinical trials are research studies that test new treatments to see how well they work. They are designed to answer specific questions about: safety, benefits, side effects and more. Participation in a cancer research study, also known as a clinical trial, may result in benefit from some of the latest techniques and therapeutic advances in the treatment of cancer.

By participating in a clinical trial, you are also helping to improve knowledge in ways that may help people with cancer live longer and enjoy a better quality of life.
