The Magnet Recognition Program® recognizes top healthcare organizations in the nation for achieving nursing excellence.
UMC was the first hospital in West Texas to achieve Magnet® designation. The designation is awarded to select hospitals following an intensive review of documentation data, clinical practices, patient outcomes, nursing research and an on-site visit.
Magnet® organizations are recognized for nursing processes leading to exceptional patient outcomes, quality, patient satisfaction and nurse satisfaction. Research regarding Magnet® hospitals finds patients benefit from visiting a hospital with Magnet® status, as these hospitals report:

Tuition Reimbursement
Over the past 5 years, UMC has provided over 3.9 million dollars for nurses to continue their education! In 2022 alone, UMC assisted 76 nurses with their BSN, 45 nurses with MSN, and 3 nurses with DNP.
