How To Apply For A GN/GVN Position

At UMC, you will encounter a nursing environment and culture that values your knowledge and clinical skills — and encourages your input for clinical decision-making.

Graduate Nurses (GNs) and Graduate Vocational Nurses (GVNs) are welcome at UMC! You will benefit from a personalized GN or GVN program which introduces you to your new responsibilities in a kind, professional, and nurturing environment. The goal of our programs is to provide a comfortable and safe transition for the Graduate Nurse and Graduate Vocational Nurse into the acute care setting.

Graduate Nurses (GNs) and Graduate Vocational Nurses (GVNs)

UMC offers GN and GVN employment all year long per availability. However, GN internships (ICU, ER, and OR) are available three times per calendar year (January, June, and September).

GN internships (ICU, ER, and OR) positions will open in February for a June start, June for a September start, and October for a January start (see chart below). You must have your GN permit or be newly licensed as a RN (Texas or compact) before the internship starts. All other GN or GVN positions will be available all year long upon availability.
