August 2021 - Progress Notes
UMC & UMCP's Employee Newsletter
Delicious food and rollercoaster tracks are the perfect break for our UMC Heroes! On July 27, UMC hosted a Hero Break for employees and their families to attend a picnic and have the Joyland park all to themselves.
UMC is focused on helping the community because our passion is your well-being. On August 3rd, the South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of UMC Health System and Encompass Health, opened 26 new private rooms to treat patients in need of a hospital-level of care for rehabilitation services.
In mid-2020, UMC partnered with Condray Design Group to completely remodel clinic space that has now been our new Breast Imaging Center for a year. And we are proud to say the design of this space is officially award winning!
On May 13, 2020, Kynlee thought she had broken her leg falling down the stairs. She went to the doctor and discovered that it was something else entirely. She had a sunburst of osteosarcoma - bone cancer. At only 13 years old, Kynlee was in and out of UMC for a year for chemotherapy. After a hard fight with treatments, surgery, and rehab, Kynlee rang the bell. She was cancer free. Kynlee is a fighter and is glad to be back doing the things she loves. She is so appreciative of all the support she received from her nurses and doctors at UMC and says she could never have done it without them!
Our supportive care advanced practice professionals, also known as palliative care, work hard to help those facing life-threatening illnesses. Their mission is to relieve suffering for patients and their families by providing physical and emotional care. They develop treatment plans regarding medicine, therapy, diets, and more to best suit the patient. They go above and beyond to offer compassionate care and we cannot be more thankful for them!
UMC Physicians (UMCP) has grown to over 115 providers representing all primary care specialties and is here to serve you! This month we are highlighting two of our Obstetrics & Gynecology clinics.
UMC EMS passionately serves the children in our community, and has been recognized for it! UMC EMS received the GOLD Level of pediatric care readiness from the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) State Partnership through the EMS Recognition Program.
